El artículo analiza el desarrollo de la interseccionalidad como concepto presente en el proceso de juzgar con perspectiva de género, en particular, su impacto en la jurisprudencia de la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos (Corte IDH). La metodología utilizada es cualitativa, principalmente, revisión de sentencias de la Corte IDH. De las 13 sentencias seleccionadas en el período 2015-2022 se concluye que la Corte IDH ha incorporado progresivamente la perspectiva interseccional y la ha usada como categoría analítica para estudiar, entender y (...) hacer frente a las discriminaciones que constituyen una forma agravada de discriminación y barreras de acceso a la justicia. A pesar de su singular condición urbana, de su atractivo internacional, y de ser la segunda ciudad en importancia de Chile, Valparaíso no cuenta con una suficiente historiografía de su pasado urbano. Este artículo pretende ser un aporte a ella, teniendo a los cerros como protagonistas, para estudiar su la etapa inicial de poblamiento. Se centra en el proceso en que se fueron instalando viviendas - que constituyeron una fisonomía urbana particular, además de barrios-, en los distintos cerros de Valparaíso, (...) diferenciando etapas tanto en alturas como en cerros. Se pone especial atención, también, en los tipos de viviendas pobres y serranas de esa época y, finalmente, en las conclusiones, se plantean algunos problemas de investigación futura, relativos al urbanismo histórico de los cerros de Valparaíso. Ramified natural theology concerns arguments for or against distinctively Christian theism, using only our natural endowments of reason and sense perception, without appealing to the authority of divine revelation. Before ramified natural theology’s arguments and evidence can be evaluated properly, first its methodology must be clear, impartial, settled, and effective. This paper defends three theses regarding methodology. First, ramified natural theology and science share the same core methodology, namely, the PEL model, specifying that conclusions about the world require three resources: (...) Presuppositions, Evidence, and Logic. Second, ramified natural theology, especially when implemented with the PEL model, provides a suitable methodology for investigating miracles. Third, despite methodological differences, there is a fruitful synergy between natural and revealed theology. Ramified natural theology has its own intrinsic importance, and yet its full value emerges from its synergy with revealed theology. (shrink)

This essay tries to rethink Benjamin’s notion of “aura” through the consideration of two authors such as G. Didi-Huberman and D. Costello. The aim is not to distinguish between auratic and postauratic (or non-auratic) works of art, but to rethink the problem of aesthetic perception in the age of mechanical reproduction. More specifically, Costello and Didi-Huberman point out the relation between “aura” and “subjectivity”: on the one hand, the intersubjective (and ethical) nature of an “authentic” (i.e., auratic) experience; on the (...) other hand, the presence of the aura nowadays in the “interplay of gazes” between the (subject-)work and the (subject-)spectator. Works of art are indeed characterized by a “two-fold” or aesthetic “transcendence” – they are at once both inside and outside my world – which enables them to resist the reification into reproducible commodity. The general principles of the scientific method, which are applicable across all of the sciences, are essential for perspective, productivity, and innovation. These principles include deductive and inductive logic, probability, parsimony, and hypothesis testing, as well as science's presuppositions, limitations, ethics, and bold claims of rationality and truth. The implicit contrast is with specialized techniques confined to a given discipline, such as DNA sequencing in biology. Neither general principles nor specialized techniques can substitute for one another, but rather the winning (...) combination for scientists is mastery of both. In the target article, Sagvolden and collaborators propose that attentional-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the result of a general behavioral deficit which is mainly caused by a hypofunctioning mesolimbic dopaminergic system. Although we partly agree with this view, we think that it tends to overlook the dysfunction of prefrontal and frontostriatal executive functions by considering them to be a consequence of alterations in reward and extinction mechanisms. Rather, we believe that ADHD is the result of an overall cognitive and behavioral condition, (...) associated to a generalized dopaminergic network dysfunction, and may not be easily attributable to a single basic behavioral function. An important 2003 book by Richard Swinburne and 2009 chapter by Timothy and Lydia McGrew develop the case for the bodily resurrection of Jesus as a project in ramified natural theology featuring public evidence. This paper imports a model for full disclosure of arguments from natural science to specify natural theology’s methodological and statistical requirements. Four matters need further clarification in this project’s ongoing development: the strength of the evidence, hypotheses being tested, dependence on generic natural theology, and range of (...) evidence considered relative to apostolic precedents. On ne peut accepter toutes les propositions de CID II (Les Comptes du quatrième et du troisième siècle) relatives à l'ordonnance des travaux et à la chronologie des documents de la période 346-336, si importants pour la datation précise des opérations de la quatrième guerre sacrée (établissement du koinon eubéen et date de la session amphictionique où Eschine prit la parole), pour la succession des travaux au temple, pour une mise en ordre des comptes de naopes, voire pour la reconstitution (...) du « mur des comptes ». Cette étude reprend certaines questions liées de près ou de loin à l'archonte Palaios et passe en revue les comptes où son nom est ou mentionné ou restitué. À la suite de ce nouvel examen il se confirme ou on peut établir que Damoxénos est bien l'archonte de 346/5, que l'archonte Aristonymos date bien de 341/340, que l'archonte de la 35e pylée (archonte à 7 lettres) n'est pas Palaios, lequel se place bien toutefois en 337/6 et que le compte CD 11 est bien le début de CD 75 (compte à apousiaî). El estudio de políticas educativas y en particular de aquellas abocadas a la inclusión digital como el Programa Conectar Igualdad (PCI) reviste de una gran complejidad por la multiplicidad de actores intervinientes y las perspectivas de análisis posibles. Nos posicionamos desde un abordaje de las políticas educativas que se centra en la indagación de la experiencia vivida por los propios sujetos que, en este caso, protagonizaron la puesta en acto del PCI en el Ministerio de Educación de la Nación y (...) ANSES. El enfoque biográfico narrativo se presenta como vía de entrada fecunda al estudio de las emociones que atraviesan a quienes forman parte de espacios de decisión sobre las políticas educativas en el Estado. Recuperar las emociones, convicciones y pasiones de los sujetos involucrados en las políticas educativas se configura como un camino a recorrer que permite indagar sobre la gestión de políticas nacionales destinadas al ámbito educativo y la inclusión digital desde otra perspectiva. Observamos una estrecha relación entre el compromiso y la convicción por garantizar la mejora de las condiciones educativas del nivel secundario y por reducir las desigualdades digitales desde una perspectiva de derecho y las emociones que se ponen en juego en la puesta en acto de políticas como el PCI. Frente a un proceso histórico de larga data inscrito en las transformaciones de la familia, el final del siglo pasado ha visto declinar la autoridad paterna propia de la matriz familiar patriarcal y moderno-industrial, abriendo un nuevo lugar al padre. Sobre la base de treinta entrevistas, este artículo analiza los cambios en las representaciones de la paternidad en distintos grupos sociales chilenos, las rupturas intergeneracionales y los modelos de paternidad contemporáneos, poniendo en evidencia los límites del cambio del orden de (...) género tradicional aunque los padres actuales se muestren más involucrados y cercanos a sus hijos en un contexto en que convive el padre moderno con el “amo” que gobierna la familia restaurando la tradición. Pictures are created objects that have the function of generating a perceptual experience. In this sense, they are “experiential artifacts” (Terrone forthcoming). The experience elicited by pictures – usually visual (but for non-visual pictorial experience see e.g. Lopes 1997) – is a composite perceptual experience, in which the “perception” of the depicted scene (which is not in front of us) is generated by and experienced along the perception of the marked surface (the object that is actually in front of us). A philosophical analysis of such an experience amounts to answering the following questions: How should we describe the phenomenology of pictorial experience? What is it like to experience pictures? The turn of the twentieth century witnessed the birth of two distinct philosophical schools in Europe: analytic philosophy and phenomenology. The history of 20th-century philosophy is often written as an account of the development of one or both of these schools, as well as their overt or covert mutual hostility. What is often left out of this history, however, is the relationship between the two European schools and a third significant philosophical event: the birth and development of pragmatism, the indigenous (...) philosophical movement of the United States. Through a careful analysis of seminal figures and central texts, this book explores the mutual intellectual influences, convergences, and differences between these three revolutionary philosophical traditions. The essays in this volume aim to show the central role that pragmatism played in the development of philosophical thought at the turn of the twentieth century, widen our understanding of a seminal point in the history of philosophy, and shed light on the ways in which these three schools of thought continue to shape the theoretical agenda of contemporary philosophy. This task is approached along two main lines, corresponding roughly to the volume’s two parts: on the one hand, by reconstructing Deleuze’s direct or potential engagements with classical pragmatism, while on the other hand by investigating the real or virtual exchanges between Deleuze’s rich philosophical production and most contemporary varieties of pragmatism. Far from offering a comprehensive overview or a definitive statement of James’s philosophical style, the aim of this entry is to articulate the intertwinement of James’s unique way of writing and lecturing with his reflection on, and thus his use of, style. I shall take James’s writings on pragmatism as exemplary. In these metaphilosophical works we find articulated a picture of philosophy as a critical, transformative activity, one in which the way one expresses oneself gets itself rubricated as a central (...) philosophical issue. In his characterization of pragmatism as a philosophical method, and consistently with his understanding of philosophical activity as a practice of reflective engagement with oneself, James offers his readers sophisticated and yet intimate instructions rather than prescriptions or descriptions dressed in a specialized, dry language. James is surely not the sole author who professed a close relationship between what is said, how it is said, and why it is so said along precisely these lines—Nietzsche and Wittgenstein are other notable examples. In what follows, I aim at depicting James’s distinctive way of formulating this insight and putting it to work. (shrink)

Global development, diffusion and implementation of the human-centredness paradigm can be performed at best when supported by a study of our mental activity. By analysing our mental operations, we can understand how human needs, interests, values and creativity take form, what each consists of, how it is possible to expand, modify and generate them. The proposed model of mental activity is based on attentional movement. The new opportunities, both ethical and social, offered by such a study are presented.

Richard Rorty è uno dei più influenti e controversi filosofi culturali della fine del XX secolo. Intellettuale dal respiro ampio ed erudito, con la sua opera ha contribuito a riportare all’attenzione del dibattito internazionale alcune idee e intuizioni del pragmatismo americano. Il crescente interesse per l’opera di Rorty ha reso più che mai attuale il compito di una rilettura e di una rivalutazione del suo pensiero. La sua saggistica continua a ispirare nuove incursioni in campi di grande importanza per la (...) filosofia, la teoria politica, la sociologia, i legal studies, i feminist studies, l’educazione e la letteratura comparata, dimostrando la rilevanza del suo pensiero rispetto alle questioni più pressanti del nostro tempo. I saggi contenuti in questo libro analizzano criticamente la filosofia di Rorty focalizzando l’attenzione sulle sue concezioni etiche, epistemologiche e politiche. Essi rivalutano alcuni aspetti del suo pensiero che non sono stati sufficientemente tematizzati. (shrink)

Une série particulière de communications présentées, sous forme d’exposés ou de posters, dans le cadre du Colloque qui s’est tenu à Argos en 2011 (La Monnaie dans le Péloponnèse) complète ici la publication des Actes proprement dits (sous le double label BCH Suppléments 57 et Obolos 10). L’essentiel, en cela homogène, porte sur des trouvailles monétaires sporadiques réalisées en fouilles, à l’exception du signalement de deux collections particulières, l’une conservée au Musée de Nauplie, l’autre constituant la partie péloponnésienne d’une riche (...) collection acquise par la Fondation du monde hellénique. Il est opportun, à cette occasion, de souligner combien sont plus valables pour le travail scientifique les informations livrées par une trouvaille réalisée au cours de fouilles officielles que celles tirées abusivement des « trésors » reconstitués à partir de lots repérés dans le commerce des Antiquités. L'étude passe en revue les principaux édifices connus, qui peuvent servir de repères pour une reconstitution des « itinéraires » de Pausanias, tout particulièrement dans la partie du site qui correspond à l'agora, celle-ci n'étant guère éloignée du rempart, comme la découverte d'un tronçon l'a révélé. Dans le cadre ainsi fixé on peut tenter d'établir la jonction entre les secteurs urbains et les ensembles cohérents que l'on parvient à cerner dans le texte du Périégète, comme celui relatif au « téménos (...) » de Zeus. Pour délimiter ce « chapitre » argien de la Description de là Grèce, il importe de découper adéquatement le texte, en interrompant une première chaîne de curiosités avant la mention du kritérion (II 20,7), et de rapprocher les passages relatifs à Méduse dont l'un (20,7) clôt la description du «téménos» de Zeus tandis que l'autre (21,5) débute la description de la deuxième partie de l'agora. On propose ensuite de localiser les édifices et les curiosités signalées par Pausa- nias de 20,1 à 20,7 dans la partie de l'agora limitée par la salle hypostyle, le portique Sud et la crépis récemment exhumée qui lui fait face. Les éléments essentiels en sont la salle hypostyle — probablement le mnèma Danaou —, l'orchestra — près de laquelle se dressaient les statues des chefs thébains et de Choreia notamment —, le nymphée — l'édifice où «les femmes argiennes adoraient Adonis» — et la piste de course, le lieu des courses nuptiales décrites par Pindare dans la IXe Pythique. This study primarily aims at bringing together the various observations that resulted from the preparation of the model of the site of the agora at Argos. Since an identification of the different monuments is closely dependent on Pausanias' account, we first present the larger complexes corresponding to the sections of his Description. To assist in identifying the site of the sanctuary of Apollo Lykeios on the terrace north of the nymphaeum and the orchestra, a summary is given of what we (...) know about the terrace; in the appendix a reevaluation is made of the evidence from the inscription for the location of the sanctuary. To make it easier to follow the different evidence relating to the site, plans of the agora are included for the three periods: the 5th c. BC, 2nd c. AD and Late Empire. An attempt is also made to show how the plan of the buildings that formed the Classical agora conformed to a coordinated, ambitious design, whose broad axes it is possible to recover. Since all the known buildings are contained. within this area, it is possible to go back in time and to understand the conception of those who planned the public spaces of Argos when they redesigned the city after 460 BC. Especially so when the tradition under review has been contested among its friends and foes alike since its very beginning. This has surely been, and still is, the case with pragmatism, where depending on the narrative spun we would have very different figures foregrounded or rather eclipsed.
